SK KAKEN Co., Ltd. was founded as Shikoku Kagaku Kenkyusho in 1955, aiming to create something useful\r\n for the society and expand the business all over Japan. Since then, we have committed ourselves to the\r\n development of new technology, new products, and new market demand. In 2020, the company celebrated the\r\n 65th anniversary of its foundation.<\/p>\r\n

Initially, the company started the business by recycling solvent (purifying waste solvent for paints by\r\n distillation and changing into new solvent) and developing water-based architectural coating. We changed\r\n the company name to Shikoku Kaken Kogyo Co., Ltd. We developed sand-wall-like coatings and ceramics as\r\n well as spray tile coatings that shortened a work period. Thus, we kept developing new materials to meet\r\n the market demand of the time.<\/p>\r\n

After the first oil crisis, we started the research of inorganic materials, changing our direction from\r\n organic to inorganic. We made a great success in developing the world-first inorganic intumescent\r\n materials, which later led us to develop fireproof coating for steel frame. We also established our\r\n overseas sales offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Thailand, etc. for expanding the global\r\n business. In 1984, the company achieved the No.1 market share in Japan, and still keeps the position.\r\n <\/p>\r\n

In 1991, we changed the company name to SK KAKEN Co., Ltd. With a success of Ceratight series \u2013 our\r\n patent products \u2013 we have developed new demands for super dirt resistant exterior coating and thereafter\r\n developed numerous innovative products such as heat reflective coating, floor coating, and Japan\u2019s first\r\n fireproof coating material. SK Kaken has made significant progress as an architectural coating\r\n manufacturer through developing such business with a comprehensive range of products.
\r\n In recent years, we have been expanding the new needs of market through technology innovation such as\r\n developing alternative materials for natural stone and comfortable high-grade decorative new materials.\r\n <\/p>\r\n

\u2018Saving labour and energy\u2019, \u2018fire prevention and earthquake-resistance\u2019, \u2018improving asset value\u2019, all\r\n over the world. With these goals, SK Kaken will strongly lead the architectural coating industry. Our\r\n commitment is based on our original company philosophy \u2018Create something from nothing\u2019. The world keeps\r\n changing. We will cope with the changes, create new market demand and turn a crisis into a chance. We\r\n will contribute to creating the world architectural culture.<\/p>\r\n
